Job summary

Wellspring is seeking an Integration Specialist for our Men's Residential Program. You will help residents develop essential living skills and reintegrate into the community, using a therapeutic approach that is empathetic, respectful, and motivational.

You will supervise by the Residential Program Director, work full-time (40 hours/week), and collaborate with the treatment team to support residents’ progress and independence in daily living, employment pursuits, and education.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of substance use and co-occurring disorders; characteristics and treatment.
• Ability to teach groups and individuals basic life skills such as budgeting, nutrition, hygiene, food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with developing healthy basic living skills (sanitation, nutrition, hygiene, food prep).
• Increase resident independence in budgeting, appointments, transportation, and housing search.
• Guide residents in completing applications for housing, food assistance, medical care and other services.
• Coordinate vocational education and linkages with community resources; facilitate referrals.
• Support residents in web-based job searches and setting up email accounts.
• Ensure house chores and maintenance tasks are performed per program standards and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and participate in supervision and staff meetings.

Supervised By: Residential Program Director

Hours: Full time - 40 hours a week

Basic Purpose: To assist residents in: developing healthy basic living skills; pursuing educational and employment interests; and integrating into the community.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of substance use and co-occurring disorders – characteristics and treatment
• Ability to teach groups & individuals basic life skills such as budgeting, nutrition, hygiene, food preparation and to provide guidance for educational/vocational pursuits.
• Basic computer skills in word processing, e-mail, and Internet use
• A valid drivers license and access to transportation

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Through individual and group lessons, assist residents with developing healthy basic living skills in: sanitation & hygiene; nutrition; food planning, purchase, storage, & preparation.
• Assist residents to increase independence and integrate into the community through skill development in areas such as budgeting, arranging own appointments and transportation, and housing search.
• Assist residents in learning how to understand and complete applications for housing, food assistance, medical care and other services, including how to obtain appropriate documentation for said services.
• Provide and coordinate vocational education thru orientation to various educational and vocational resources in the community; establish working linkages between the agencies providing services to our residents; facilitate referrals and assist in applications.
• Orient clients to web based employment searches thru Career Center or Library, assist clients in completing on line employment applications; establish e-mail account through search engines, i.e., Google, Yahoo, etc.
• Ensure that house committee establishes appropriate chore assignments and that all chores are completed in accordance with program standards.
• Teach and supervise residents in doing basic maintenance such as painting and minor repairs.
• Develop monthly menus with the residents that meet the approval of a registered dietitian, including special dietary needs, and supervise residents in assisting with purchasing food and or other supplies.
• Transport clients in the agency van to appointments or activities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
• Interact with residents in an empathetic, respectful, and motivational manner in providing support, assisting with problem solving, encouraging residents to take responsibility for their lives, & serving as a positive role model.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to meet resident’s needs in order to integrate into the community.
• Provide limited follow-up support/referrals for clients who transition into the community.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and high ethical standards.
• Prepare for and participate in individual and group supervision, case review, and staff meetings.
• Report to work promptly at assigned hours and submit accurate time sheets to the program directors.
• Perform other duties as delegated by the program, clinical, or executive director.
