Job summary

Capital One seeks an Integration Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise integrations across cloud platforms and core business systems in Chicago. You will collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to deliver scalable, observable solutions and mentor peers in modern integration practices.

You will drive adoption of API-based integration patterns, leverage AWS/Azure/GCP, and contribute to continuous improvement of deployment tooling and development processes.

What You’ll Do

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting‑edge technologies, inclusion, outside‑of‑the‑box thinking, teamwork, self‑organization and diversity
• Design, develop, and implement robust integration solutions that connect diverse enterprise applications, including core business platforms like Salesforce CRM and Google Cloud services (GCP)
• Lead the design and implementation of complex, enterprise‑scale integrations across multiple systems, data sources, and platforms
• Serve as the technical integration lead for major initiatives, partnering with software, data and infrastructure teams to ensure interoperability and performance
• Define integration standards, patterns, and best practices that guide implementation across teams

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 4 years of experience designing and maintaining cross‑platform or cloud integrations
• At least 3 years of experience automating system configuration or data workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in a cloud‑based environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• 3+ years of experience developing or supporting API‑based integrations using scripting or orchestration tools (AWS Lambda, Step Functions, MuleSoft)
• 5+ years of experience with deployment tooling (Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory)
• 4+ years of experience in Agile practices
• Experience managing identity and access within systems
• 5+ years of experience implementing large‑scale integration solutions or data pipelines in cloud environments
• Experience developing integration frameworks or reusable components used across multiple teams or applications
• Experience collaborating with enterprise architects to define integration reference architectures
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog) to ensure integration reliability and performance

Salary

• Chicago, IL: $149,800 - $171,000 for Integration Engineer 4
• McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100 for Integration Engineer 4
• Richmond, VA: $149,800 - $171,000 for Integration Engineer 4

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
