Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to develop and support medical integration projects, ensuring interoperability and reliable operation. You will determine requirements, estimate costs, document implementations, and lead or participate in installation, troubleshooting and repair of integrated medical devices.

Required: Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering; 3–5 years in installation/repair; knowledge of biomedical, server and network

A Brief Overview

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - Associates Degree Biomedical Engineering
  • Preferred - Associates Degree Electrical Engineering
  • Preferred - Associates Degree Information Technology
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Biomedical Engineering
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Information Technology
Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - Biomedical equipment installation/repair, Electronics repair, and IT support 3-5 years
  • Preferred - Substitution allowed: In lieu of Associate's degree, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent with six (6) years of experience in progressive Biomedical equipment installation/repair, Electronics repair or IT support 5-7 years
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • Preferred - Certified Biomedical Engineering Technician - International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology
  • Preferred - Certified Network Professional - Cisco Systems Knowledge
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of Biomedical, Server and Network systems, and medical equipment integration.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Knowledge of instructions and pre-established guideline to perform the functions of the job.
  • Strong quantitative and problem solving skills.
  • Skills and proficiency in communications and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of Associates and management.
  • Ability to schedule and organize multiple tasks and projects and to maintain control of own workflow.

There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
