Job description

Orbis is seeking an Integration Engineer to join one of three integration teams building and fielding data integrations for an ongoing program supporting a government client in the Middle East. You will work under a Senior Engineer (Team Lead) alongside a Senior Integration Engineer who serves as your day‑to‑day engineering mentor and first escalation point. In this role, you will onboard and configure data sources (sensors, C2 systems, and operational feeds) into a secure, multi‑cluster data governance and mesh platform, deploy and manage platform nodes, and support the customer in taking ownership of their environment. This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who is comfortable working across systems, protocols, and customer teams in fast‑moving operational contexts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Onboard and configure new data sources into the data governance and mesh pipeline: producers, operators, and consumers
• Deploy and manage platform nodes across environments using Helm charts and established runbooks
• Maintain and tune active integrations: monitoring health, diagnosing pipeline issues, and applying fixes
• Manage mesh‑bridge connectivity and cross‑mesh routing for deployed data sources
• Contribute to and follow integration documentation, runbooks, and onboarding guides
• Collaborate with the Senior Integration Engineer and core platform team to surface platform issues encountered during integration work
• Support customer‑facing deployments: bundling, validating, and coordinating data source releases
• Enable customer technical ownership through hands‑on training and knowledge transfer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on system integrations and data pipelines
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js
• Experience with GraphQL and pub/sub architectures (Zenoh or equivalent)
• Hands‑on experience deploying and managing containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes/Helm)
• Strong debugging skills and comfort operating independently in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in distributed, remote, cross‑functional teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with defense data standards and protocols: ASTERIX, Cursor on Target (CoT), STANAG, radar UDP
• Background with military, law enforcement, or intelligence community operations and organizations
• Experience supporting international programs with distributed, cross‑cultural teams
• Understanding of service mesh concepts, mTLS, and zero‑trust network architectures
• Familiarity with edge‑native deployment patterns and constrained operational environments
• Experience with customer enablement, technical training, or knowledge transfer in field environments
• Fluency with AI‑assisted development tooling (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or equivalents) as part of daily engineering practice

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements include sedentary work, fine motor skill usage, visual acuity, clear communication, lifting up to 25 pounds, and sustained concentration. Travel: Extended travel to the Middle East, including time spent in geopolitical hot zones on a rotational basis (60 days in country and 60 days in the U.S. working remotely).
