Integrated Studies, Adjunct Faculty
Job Summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. All Adjunct Faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, responsive to changing professional needs; committed to innovative delivery of instruction, resulting in improved student learning; and committed to effective use of technology.

Teaching assignments will include undergraduate courses taught on the main campus, online, or at off-campus sites within our region.

Typical Duties (but are not limited to)
  • Teaching assigned undergraduate general education Humanities courses, upper-level interdisciplinary "Issues" courses (e.g., environment, science, technology, politics, etc.), and/or the program's service-learning and sustainability course, IDS 3300 Foundations of Civic Engagement.
  • Planning and teaching the assigned course(s).
  • Preparing syllabi and instructional materials; coordinating lectures and tests.
  • Mentoring students.
  • Using the Canvas teaching platform to manage courses.
  • Contributing to course and/or curriculum development, if applicable.
  • Functioning as an effective, active, and collegial team member.
Other Duties
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in relevant discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the university level.
