Universal Health Services' Austin Oaks Hospital is seeking an Intake Supervisor to oversee referrals, inquiries, assessments and admissions in a fast-paced psychiatric setting. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists and care teams to ensure timely patient flow and a compassionate first impression.

The role leads intake staff, monitors performance against cycle time and bed utilization goals, and supports staff development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; Texas RN license (or compact state) OR licensed therapist (LPC/LMFT).
• 2 years psychiatric nursing experience required.
• 1 year supervisory experience required.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications (can be obtained on orientation).
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required.

Position Summary

The Intake Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the intake department for a mental health hospital, ensuring that referrals, inquiries, assessments, and admissions are handled in a timely, clinically appropriate, accurate, and service-focused manner. This position serves as a key operational leader for intake workflow management and works closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, unit clerks, case management, and other departments to support patient flow, bed utilization, and safe admission practices. The Intake Supervisor helps ensure that patients and families receive a professional, compassionate first experience with the organization while maintaining compliance with hospital policy, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

In addition to managing intake processes, this role provides leadership, coaching, and day-to-day oversight to intake staff. The Intake Supervisor monitors quality, prioritizes assignments, resolves workflow issues, supports staff development, and escalates concerns when necessary. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, supporting service excellence, and contributing to key performance goals such as cycle time, emergency room response time, average daily census, and inquiry response expectations.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state) OR a Licensed Therapist LPC, LMFT
