Description A healthcare organization is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to manage authorizations and act as a liaison between clinical teams and managed care providers. This role is responsible for ensuring timely processing of authorizations, maintaining compliance with insurance requirements, and overseeing daily operations within the authorization team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and experienced in managed care processes.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate with clinical teams to prepare and submit authorization requests to managed care and HMO providers
• Obtain, track, and maintain authorizations for patient services
• Create formal authorization requests using clinical documentation and patient information
• Enter and manage authorization data within EMR systems
• Communicate with insurance providers regarding approvals, denials, and status updates
• Verify authorization details including service approvals, timeframes, and visit counts
• Monitor pending requests and follow up on delayed authorizations
• Maintain accurate records and provide updates to internal teams
• Assist billing team with authorization discrepancies and reporting
• Build and maintain relationships with insurance contacts to streamline communication
• Organize and prioritize authorization workflows based on urgency

Leadership Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide oversight to team members handling authorization processes
• Assign and monitor daily tasks to ensure productivity and quality standards
• Resolve operational issues and support team performance
• Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports
• Assist with staffing coordination and workflow management

Requirements

• Associate degree or 5+ years of relevant experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience with HMOs, commercial insurance, or managed care regulations
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and solve problems independently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as McKesson or similar platforms
