Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking an Insurance Verification and Authorization specialist within the Home Infusion Solutions team. You will obtain complete patient insurance information, process prior authorizations, and manage the reimbursement components to facilitate care.

Join a patient‑centered team with a 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule, full‑time role, and competitive hourly pay. A High School Diploma is required; healthcare insurance authorization experience is needed,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years’ experience with medical insurance authorization in infusion services or healthcare.
• 1 year experience with PBM and major medical prior authorizations.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of required technical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtains insurance verification and prior authorization based on initial referral data.
• Verifies insurance coverage and identifies drug billing requirements.
• Documents and verifies billing procedures related to the collection process.
• Determines patient’s drug coverage path (major medical vs PBM) and secures authorization.
• Submits appeals for authorization denials.
• Acts as a resource to navigators regarding insurance guidelines.
• Informs patients of financial responsibilities and provides information packets before service.
• Assists with manufacturer co-pay assistance when appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
