Job summary

Treasure Coast Center for Surgery is seeking an Insurance Verifier to join our busy ambulatory surgery center. The role involves contacting insurance carriers to verify patient benefits, estimating patient financial responsibilities, and coordinating with physicians, staff, and patients to secure pre-authorization for procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and strong knowledge of Medicare and managed care requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• CPR certification is required.
• Typing/keyboarding skills are essential.
• Strong knowledge of Medicare and managed care plans, including authorization and referrals.

Responsibilities

• Contacts all insurance carriers per patient to ensure proper coordination and reimbursement of benefits.
• Breaks down managed care contract reimbursements and estimates patient financial responsibilities.
• Works with physician offices and patients to provide accurate patient financial responsibilities and ensure pre-authorization for procedures/admissions.
• Interacts with patients and staff respectfully regardless of age or background.
• Follows center policies, participates in safety and infection control practices, and supports emergency preparedness.

Education

Treasure Coast Center for Surgery has been serving the Treasure Coast area for 20 years. We are a busy, multispecialty ambulatory surgery center, performing outpatient procedures in Endoscopy, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Podiatry, and Urology. The Insurance Verifier contacts all insurance companies to verify description of patient(s) medical plan benefits Estimates patient financial responsibilities. Interacts with physicians, personnel, and patients regarding financial issues.

Job Duties include:

• Contacts all insurance carriers per patient, to insure proper coordination and reimbursement of benefits.
• Breaks down managed care contract reimbursements and estimates patient(s) financial responsibilities.
• Works closely with physician offices and patients to provide accurate patient financial responsibilities and to ensure scheduled procedures/admissions have proper pre-authorization.
• Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patient/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
• Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance participate in emergency preparedness drills.
• Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care for all business equipment.
