Job summary

Gilbane is seeking an Insurance Specialist/CCIP Administrator in Richmond, VA to manage insurance procurement and administration. The role requires knowledge of the insurance market, strong communication, and collaboration across teams to ensure seamless coverage.

You will work with risk managers, brokers, and vendors, maintaining accurate risk data and supporting a proactive, inclusive work culture while advancing business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 0-5 years of experience in construction or risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Process insurance requests from project teams, obtain pricing, bind coverage, and extend or terminate coverage as needed.
  • Support administrative tasks for coverages (builder’s risk, wrap ups, vendor relations).
  • Coordinate with Risk Manager to assess project or subcontractor risks.
  • Maintain DocBuilder and risk management data and workflows.
  • Coordinate with brokers, carriers, and vendors to ensure continuous coverage.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting on insurance costs and the GIG Help Desk.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Processes all insurance requests from project teams including review of application for completeness, coordination with broker to obtain pricing, communicating quotes, binding coverage, and extending or terminating coverage as needed
  • Supports all administrative tasks associated with certain coverages including builder’s risk, corporate, wrap ups, project specific placements, or vendor relationships
  • Coordinates with the Risk Manager to assess project or subcontractor risks to ensure Gilbane has appropriate coverage
  • Maintains DocBuilder or its equivalent including form content and workflow
  • Maintains data in Gilbane’s risk management systems including accurate project details, coverage details, and coverage status
  • Coordinates with Risk Managers when communicating with project teams
  • Coordinates and maintains relationships with brokers, carriers, and vendors to ensure that all Gilbane policies are in place and provides coverage with the goal of preventing any gaps in coverage for insurable risks
  • Coordinates with Corporate Accounting for all insurance costs
  • Helps with the coordination of the Gilbane Insurance Group (GIG) Help Desk
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 0-5 years of experience in the construction or risk management industries
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the insurance market including coverages, trends, and pricing
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function as an integral part of a team while being highly collaborative
  • Ability to coordinate and manage efforts involving individuals from different geographic areas as well as external partners
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand issues quickly and follow through with a resolution
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving, planning, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and other critical RMIS software
  • Ability to work independently and handle complex issues while under moderate supervision
  • Interacts well with and can influence senior level Business Unit (BU) management

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For Richmond, VA this ranges from $85,000-95,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
