Willamette Valley Cancer Institute in Eugene, OR seeks an Insurance Specialist to join the Revenue Cycle team. The role focuses on resolving insurance denials, analyzing EOBs, and ensuring patient out-of-pocket costs are minimized.

The position requires at least 2 years of medical billing experience, knowledge of claims processing, and completion of required training within 90 days. Benefits include M/D/V, Life Insurance, and a 401(k). This full-time role is based in Eugene.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing required.

Responsibilities

• Review reports, research and resolve issues related to insurance denials.
• Collaborate with colleagues to resolve insurance payment and billing errors.
• Review payment postings for accuracy and current account balances.
• Analyze EOBs to determine patient vs. insurer liability.
• Monitor delinquent accounts and update status.
• Recommend accounts for collection or write-off.
• Contact patients to verify demographics and insurance providers.
• Answer questions and resolve complaints related to payments.
• Refer patients to set up payment plans when appropriate.
• Support refunds research and reporting.
• Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

Insurance Specialist

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is seeking an Insurance Specialist to join their Revenue Cycle team. Insurance Billing is a difficult field, and this position is compounded by the complexities of cancer care. Our team of Insurance Specialists work tirelessly to make sure insurance companies reimburse for stated coverage and patient's out of pocket costs are as low as possible. A person who is comfortable on the phone, has experience and knowledge of insurance companies, EOBs, managing insurance denial processes, and medical terminology will find success in this role. Experience in AR and Insurance Follow Up is highly preferred. If you would like to be an advocate for patients, we want to hear from you!

The general salary range for this position at WVCI is $21.00 - $34.00. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity etc.

Responsibilities

• Answers patient payment, billing, and insurance questions and resolves complaints.
• May refer patients to Patient Benefits Representative to set up payment plans.
• Assists in research in order to accurately report refunds.
• Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
