Insurance & Reinsurance Associate

Location: New York, NY

A leading national firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Insurance practice in New York. The team advises major insurers, reinsurers, and financial institutions on complex regulatory matters, transactional work, and high-stakes disputes. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with sophisticated clients, take on meaningful responsibility, and handle a broad spectrum of insurance and reinsurance matters within a highly regarded, collaborative practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist on regulatory and transactional matters involving insurers, reinsurers, and insurance-related entities.
• Handle all stages of insurance and reinsurance litigation, including depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
• Draft and negotiate regulatory filings, transactional documents, memoranda, motions, and briefs.
• Conduct detailed legal research and analysis on complex regulatory and dispute issues.
• Work independently and collaboratively with senior attorneys and sophisticated clients.

Who You Are

• 3–4 years of insurance and reinsurance experience gained at a reputable boutique or national/international firm.
• Strong background in regulatory and transactional insurance matters.
• Litigation experience, including taking and defending depositions and arguing motions.
• Excellent academic credentials with strong writing, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Sound judgement with the ability to manage client-facing responsibilities.
• Member of the New York Bar (required).

Compensation

Salary Range: $240,000 – $275,000 DOE
