Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking an Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney in our Madison, New Jersey office. This hybrid role involves handling complex coverage matters, collaborating with partners, and advising clients on coverage issues from inception through resolution.

Candidates should have a JD, admission to NJ and NY, and 5+ years in coverage litigation; experience across CGL, excess, professional liability, and D&O is preferred.

• Handle all aspects of coverage litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and case strategy.
• Advise clients on a broad range of insurance coverage issues and potential exposures.
• Work directly with clients and develop strong, trusted client relationships.
• Prepare detailed reporting, legal analysis, and recommendations for clients.
• Handle matters involving a variety of coverage lines, jurisdictions, and legal issues.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment while continuing to develop your practice and expertise.

The Position

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex insurance coverage matters, including both first-party and third-party claims. You will collaborate with partners and attorneys while taking an active role in analyzing coverage issues, developing case strategy, communicating with clients, and handling coverage litigation from inception through resolution.

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Admission to practice in New Jersey and New York
• 5+ years of insurance coverage litigation experience
• Experience handling coverage matters in New York, New Jersey, and/or other jurisdictions
• Strong experience drafting coverage opinions involving areas such as:
• Commercial General Liability (CGL)
• Excess Coverage
• Professional Liability
• Directors & Officers (D&O)
• Property Coverage
• Experience handling both first-party and third-party claims
• Excellent analytical, legal writing, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively in a collaborative environment

Wilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally. A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Salary Range:: $155,000 USD - $200,000 USD
