Job summary

SMBC's Global Financial Institutions Group seeks an Associate to join its Insurance Client Coverage team in New York. The role focuses on origination of financing, liquidity, and risk management solutions for insurance clients, with exposure to public and private capital raising and strategic advisory engagements.

The position requires 1–3 years in corporate finance or related fields, strong modeling and communication skills, and an interest in insurance markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in corporate finance, debt capital markets, or related areas at a leading financial institution or rating agency.
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and quantitative skills.
• Experience within the insurance sector preferred; candidates with broader financial institutions or corporate banking experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product groups, industry teams, and geographic regions to deliver financing solutions.
• Manage multiple projects with high accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Support debt capital markets origination, deal structuring, pricing, and negotiations.
• Perform credit analysis, risk assessment, profitability evaluation, and portfolio monitoring.
• Develop understanding of insurance accounting frameworks and regulatory capital standards.
