Job summary

Lima Memorial Health System is seeking an Insurance Biller to support daily billing and follow-up on all insurance claims. Under supervision, you will work with third-party payers, resolve claim rejections, and coordinate with the denials management team to ensure timely payments.

Ideal candidates have at least six months of billing experience, preferably in healthcare, and possess strong verbal, numerical, and clerical skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• A minimum of six months experience in billing is required.
• Experience billing in a health care setting and understanding of Explanation of Benefits issued by payors is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily billing and follow-up of all insurance claims with third party payers.
• Resolve claims rejected through the clearinghouse and route to denials management as needed.
• Perform insurance follow up, address denials and appeals including calling payors or checking online for claim/payment status weekly.

Job description

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures and under the general supervision of the Billing Supervisor, the insurance biller is responsible for daily billing and follow- up of all insurance claims with third party payers either electronically through the use of computers and their application s or through printing and forwarding paper claims to the insurance companies which are unable to receive them electronically. s. Responsibilities include working through claims that are rejected through the clearinghouse, reconciling errors, and/or routing the claim to the denials management team. Responsibilities also include insurance follow up, denials and appeals including but not limited to calling insurance companies or checking online to obtain claim and payment status and payment status on a weekly basis; and for daily review and response to mail and voice mail messages.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent is preferred with an emphasis on a business curriculum strongly preferred

Experience

A minimum of six months experience in billing is required. Previous experience billing in a health care setting and demonstrated understanding of Explanation of Benefits issued by payors are strongly preferred.
