Job summary

Targa Resources is seeking an Instrumentation Technician in Mont Belvieu, TX to perform corrective and preventative maintenance on instrumentation systems, analytical equipment, control elements and related hardware in processing, fractionation, storage and transportation of natural gas liquids.

The role requires installation, calibration and troubleshooting of transmitters and control valves, adherence to safety and regulatory procedures, and utilization of MAXIMO for work orders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning proprietary software.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to call outs as needed.
• Interpersonal skills to interface with teams and customers.
• Ability to interface with DCS and PLCs.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose process controls.
• Working knowledge of P&IDs, electric schematics and technical manuals.
• Ability to input and utilize purchasing (ePro).
• Ability to work under DOT, TCEQ and PSM regulation.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and calibrate transmitters (temperature, differential, pressure, level, vibration).
• Maintain and install control valves, including AOVs.
• Monitor process variables to assess state of the process.
• Identify and respond to dangerous or emergency conditions to protect people and equipment.
• Collaborate with team during emergencies (Incident Command System) or plant shutdowns.
• Write repair work requests for routine/major maintenance using a CMMS (MAXIMO).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
