Job summary

Amgen’s Rhode Island site is seeking an Instrumentation Technician - Nights. You will maintain and calibrate systems, perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safe, compliant operation on a rotating 12-hour night shift.

The role requires attention to procedures, clear communication with operators, and a proactive approach to improvements. Onboarding may start with daytime training; the job offers a shift differential and comprehensive benefits as part of Amgen’s commitment to patient

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1 year of maintenance or military experience, or an Associates degree.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use standard maintenance software.
  • Ability to provide guidance and technical advice to others.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain calibrated systems and perform maintenance activities across the site.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems as needed.
  • Ensure safety and quality per SOPs and cGMPs.
  • Communicate work orders and results to operators and stakeholders.
  • Identify waste and opportunities for process improvement and assist with implementation.

Instrumentation Technician - Nights
What You Will Do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining/calibrating systems and performing various maintenance activities throughout Amgen's Rhode Island site.

  • Perform scheduled calibration and corrective maintenance and repair activities on equipment and systems used across the site
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems
  • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner and with quality
  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and cGMPs
  • Work in a highly productive and efficient manner to maximize the quantity of activities completed
  • Ensure work is appropriately communicated to system operators and key stakeholders
  • Ensure work order documentation is completed accurately and completely
  • Identify waste, workflow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assisting with implementation
  • Identify opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development that will improve overall team performance
  • Provide support when required - this may be outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and holidays

In this role, you will be expected to work a 12-hour shift (7PM-7AM) on a rotating schedule (C Shift). This includes extra benefits such as receiving an added 15% shift differential. The schedule during the initial onboarding/training phase (2-6 weeks) will be administrative (Monday through Friday, approximately 8am to 5pm).

  • No lost time injuries or near miss incidents for me
  • Minimal rework for maintenance activities executed by me
  • Labor hours expended are appropriate for job
  • All activities are completed per procedure
  • All observed issues are reported in a timely manner

Basic Qualifications

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
