Job summary

The Boston Beer Company in Cincinnati, OH is hiring a Full Time Instrumentation Technician I for 2nd shift (6pm-6am). You will diagnose, repair, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation and electrical control systems, working hands-on with PLCs and process equipment to support safe, reliable production.

Ideal candidates have 4–6 years in industrial operations, experience with PLCs and 480V systems, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Competitive pay ($42.56/hr) plus benefits and overtime as needed.

  • High school diploma or GED with applicable technical knowledge.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in industrial operations, maintenance, or related field.
  • Experience installing, repairing, and calibrating electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • 4 to 6 years working with PLCs and networking devices.
  • Knowledge of 480V three-phase electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks with PPE.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Job Description

We are currently hiring a Full Time Instrumentation Technician I in Cincinnati, OH. This will be for 2nd shift 6pm-6am. As an Instrumentation Technician I, you will help keep brewery operations running smoothly by diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating instrumentation and electrical control systems. You will work hands-on with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), process equipment, and electrical systems while supporting safe, reliable production operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


What You\'ll Brew:


  • Diagnose and repair electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system malfunctions.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain process pumps, automatic control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, and related process equipment.

  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair brewery instrumentation and electrical control systems.

  • Support operational goals by working safely and effectively in a team-oriented, safety-first environment.

  • Utilize and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), process control computers, and network-connected control devices.

  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on 240V to 480V systems, including 480V three-phase equipment.

  • Develop and implement preventive planned maintenance (PPM) programs, troubleshooting procedures, and job aids.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, system data, and documentation.

  • Support shift, weekend, holiday, overtime, and extended work schedules as business needs require.

  • Work in a manufacturing environment with loud noise, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, elevated platforms, stairs, forklifts, and other production equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED with applicable technical knowledge.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in industrial operations, plant operations, maintenance, utilities, or a related field.

  • Experience installing, repairing, and calibrating electrical and instrumentation equipment.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience working with process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and networking devices.

  • Knowledge of 480V three-phase electrical systems.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, climbing, bending, crouching, reaching, and working from elevated platforms.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, facemasks, and hard hats.

  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and, where required, respirator fit testing.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field.

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley control systems.

  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Knowledge and practical application of NFPA 70E standards.

  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and electrical protective devices.

  • Experience using calibration equipment, including Fluke and Transcat tools.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Experience with statistical process control and structured problem solving.

  • Project management, planning, and time management experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay rate for this role if hired is $42.56 per hour.
