Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect monitoring and recording devices. The role also performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, rebuilds, and protective integrity tasks for equipment. The Instrumentation Technician monitors and reports shift activities, suggesting predictive maintenance to reduce downtime. Continuous improvement tasks include preventing equipment failure.
Job Duties
- Proficiency on different instrument, communication, and calibration protocols such as 4‑20 mA, 0‑10 VDC, Hart Communicator, PID tuning and calibration; 3‑15 PSI I/P’s and knowledge of CCP’s.
- Coordinate electrical and instrument plans between shifts of instrument control technicians performing maintenance and repairs on equipment and installations.
- Assist in creating and verifying current spare parts inventories for plant equipment.
- Assist in managing and reducing repair costs.
- Ensure scheduled work assignments are completed timely and required documentation completed.
- Responsible for opening/closing and completing work orders for repairs.
- Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test a wide variety of industrial instrumentation that records, indicates, controls, and regulates level, flow, pressure, temperature, position, and water analysis.
- Troubleshoot telemetry and process controller hardware.
- Maintain a functional knowledge of the operation of telemetry system software and hardware.
- Make periodic preventive maintenance inspections of all metering/control instruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble.
- Clean, lubricate, calibrate, and adjust metering/control instruments as conditions dictate.
- Plan, install and place into service new metering controlling and recording devices, calibrate as required, and extend or connect related electrical circuits when needed.
- Support calibration of test apparatus and equipment and recordkeeping of said equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related field, or four (4+) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of database software, intranet and internet software, WMS Warehouse Management Systems.
- Experience in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
- Proven, reliable work history.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume food production/manufacturing facility.
- Prior working knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations.
- Knowledge of JDE software.
Physical Demands
- May be required to walk, sit, stand, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to lift and/or move 50+ lbs.
- Occasional exposure to cold (<34°F) or sub‑zero temperatures.
