Overview

Metric is partnered with an employee-owned engineering and automation services provider with multiple locations across the Northeast. They have roughly 150 employees and operate in the Pharmaceutical, Higher Education, Semiconductor, and Food/Beverage industries.

About the Role:

The Instrumentation Technician will support clients by installing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and control equipment across a variety of projects. This role requires a hands-on problem-solver with strong technical skills in instrumentation, process controls, and electrical systems. The Technician will play a critical role in ensuring system reliability, compliance with industry standards, and safe operations within regulated environments.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience working with instrumentation and controls in industrial, manufacturing, or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation calibration, troubleshooting, and loop-checking.
  • Familiarity with PLC/DCS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Understanding of safety protocols, GMP, and industry standards.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
Responsibilities
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation including transmitters, sensors, control valves, and analyzers.
  • Perform loop checks, signal verifications, and system troubleshooting.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup of new instrumentation and control systems.
  • Document calibration records, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to support automation and control system projects.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide client support and service with professionalism and technical expertise.
