Amentum is seeking an Instrumentation Technician in Allen Park, Michigan to support calibration, repair, and documentation of test equipment for our Advanced Solutions Group. The role focuses on ensuring readiness of instrumentation and related systems for complex research and development programs across multiple sectors.

The candidate should have at least two years of instrumentation experience, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum two years of related instrumentation experience.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and use test equipment.
• Experience with computer-based database applications and MS Office.
• Knowledge of vehicle powertrain, high voltage/HEV/BEV is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and repair basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete instrumentation calibrations, repairs, and builds accurately.
• Document and enter data in databases daily.
• Plan calibration schedules and communicate with operations.
• Calibrate transducers, transmitters, shunts, load cells, and test instruments.
• Maintain equipment readiness to support test programs.
• Provide troubleshooting and root-cause analysis support.
• Work independently and adapt to changing environments.

We are seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join Amentum’s Technical Support Services Group. Candidates will be based in Allen Park, Michigan.

Our Advanced Solutions Group delivers the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities across the nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace industries. Our team has supported an impressive range of clients, including Audi, Boeing, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Energy, Volkswagen, and organizations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Job Description:

• Core tasks include day to day calibration and repair of basic electronic systems related to test equipment.
• Accurate and timely completion of instrumentation calibrations, repairs, and builds.
• Accurate documentation and database entry on a daily basis
• Plan calibration schedule and facilitate communication with operations team
• Calibrate pressure transducers, transmitters, current shunts, battery cyclers, load cells, and handheld/bench top test instruments such as multimeters, process calibrators, thermometers, etc...
• Maintain instrumentation equipment, in a state of readiness, to support test programs.
• Operational test support through troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Ability to work independently, be highly organized, self-motivated with the ability to adapt to an ever-changing work environment.
• Ability to think through a situation and see the " big picture " . How do your actions affect the client, fellow employees, and data deliverables.
• Forward thinking — adapting the facility for the technology of the future - Excellent interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of two (2) years of related experience with instrumentation
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Operational knowledge of instrumentation equipment related to test systems
• Experience with computer based database applications.
• An understanding of vehicle powertrain, power supply, and vehicle electrical system operation with an emphasis on High Voltage / HEV / BEV applications a plus
• A working knowledge of instrumentation measurement systems, particularly transducers and their operation — temperature, pressure, fluid flow,
• Knowledge of electronic fabrication and experience building wiring harnesses
• Understanding of circuit design and experience troubleshooting electronics.
• Skilled with circuit board design and construction, as well as understanding of electrical testing schemes, preferably with battery testing experience
• A candidate with a technical aptitude driven to get into the technical details of electrical designs and understand how they work
• Strong technical aptitude specifically in the area of electrical signals and reading schematics
• Knowledge of automotive electrical subsystems, sensors and wiring required
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.
