Job summary

Flint Hills Resources is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team at our Corpus Christi Refinery. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation and control systems across refinery assets to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role includes supporting turnaround activities, coordinating work, and ensuring proper documentation. A valid US driver's license and refinery/process plant experience are required, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years' experience in the Instrumentation craft in refinery, petrochemical, or process plant environments.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing industrial instrumentation and control devices.
  • Possess a valid US Driver's License.
  • Associates of Applied Science degree or certification in industrial instrumentation or similar.
  • Five or more years' experience in instrumentation craft in refinery, petrochemical, or process plant environments.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment in operating refinery process units.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on instrumentation systems to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Support turnaround activities by identifying scope opportunities, creating work orders, coordinating assigned work activities, and executing instrumentation maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and improve asset reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and ensure work is completed in accordance with site safety and operational procedures.
  • Work a 4/10 day-shift schedule (Monday through Thursday) and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Flint Hills Resources is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team at our Corpus Christi Refinery. In this role, you will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of refinery assets by troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating a wide range of instrumentation and control systems across the site.

Our Team

Our Instrumentation Team is responsible for maintaining more than 50,000 field devices and control elements across the refinery, including transmitters, control valves, analyzers, switches, solenoids, controllers, and wireless instrumentation. What You Will Do
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment in operating refinery process units.

Physical Requirements of the role
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb (~200 ft) and balance
  • Ability & willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (for example: hard hat, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, etc. as required)
  • Must be able to adequately hear alarms and other sounds which may indicate a safety concern
  • Must be able to communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers
  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts, work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather conditions, work in high, precarious places and work around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Two (2) or more years' experience in the Instrumentation craft working in a refinery, petrochemical, or process plant environment
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing industrial instrumentation and control devices used in manufacturing or process environments.
  • Possess a valid US Driver's License
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Associates of applied Science degree or certification in industrial instrumentation or similar
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in the Instrumentation craft working in a refinery, petrochemical, or process plant environment

This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
