Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s St. Paul Park Refining Division seeks an Instrumentation Reliability Engineer II to support refinery instrumentation, analyzers, control valves, and SIS-related systems.

You will diagnose issues, analyze failure trends, and drive reliability improvements. Responsibilities include writing reliability justification, reviewing turnarounds, and developing maintenance strategies while ensuring OEM and company standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Two (2) years or more of experience required.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without visa sponsorship.
• Able to work off-hour duties such as plant shutdowns and routine on-call support.
• Able to wear PPE in the refinery and perform tasks in the field.
• Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies for instrumentation and analyzer equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and troubleshooting support for instrumentation, analyzers, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot complex instrumentation problems including pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
• Analyze equipment history and failure trends to identify reliability threats.
• Use reliability tools to improve instrument and analyzer equipment reliability.
• Write PRFs with financial justification and support DSP development.
• Review turnaround work lists for critical equipment.
• Develop equipment monitoring plans and control limits.
• Ensure repairs meet OEM requirements and company standards.
• Develop SIS settings and participate in system studies.
• Support decision-making on repair solutions during turnarounds and outages.
