Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Physical Sciences Laboratory is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer II to lead electrical/electronics design for cutting-edge research instrumentation. You will work with researchers, faculty, and industry partners to develop interfaces, manage hardware design, and ensure robust system performance across projects including the IceCube Upgrade.

Qualifications

• Five years of design experience in electrical or electronics engineering.
• Experience with modeling software and documentation tools; familiarity with project management software (MATLAB, AutoCAD, Ignition, SolidWorks or similar).

Responsibilities

• Conducts research and development of new processes and approaches for advanced instrumentation systems with researchers.
• Designs, constructs, integrates, operates, tests, calibrates, and documents large-scale instrumentation systems.
• Coordinates project activities and supports multidisciplinary teams.
• Provides expertise in design, modeling, and optimization of instrumentation projects.
• Supervises daily activities and identifies staff training opportunities when needed.
• Identifies problems and proposes solution options for strategic decisions.
• Prepares design status reports for reviews and sponsor discussions.
