Has comprehensive understanding of principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application. Responsible for performing all aspects of engineering and design. Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project to produce designs that satisfy the requirements of building designs in accordance with applicable governing codes. This requires the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria where the scope is already outlined in the form of contract drawings, specifications, one-line drawings and component estimates derived during the Step 1 process. Capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Works under minimal supervision, work is reviewed for adequacy on completion. May provide some technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.

Requirements

Requires a 4-year engineering degree and typically 5-8 years’ related experience. This includes proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment.

A Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.

Travel Required

Yes, up to 25% travel may be necessary.

  • Takes a lead role in working with other disciplines to ensure there are no conflicts or interferences between systems.
  • Coordinate with field personnel and contractors to resolve problems that arise during construction. Frequently inspects construction projects for compliance with the engineering drawings and specifications.
