Job summary

Ash Grove Cement Company seeks an Instrumentation & Electrical Specialist (Maintenance) in Washington, SEattle area. The role reports to the Electrical Supervisor and offers a daytime shift with potential overtime.

Wage scale ranges from $44.22 to $56.19 per hour with overtime opportunities. The position emphasizes preventative maintenance, systems troubleshooting, and collaboration across plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard software
  • Analytical, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in electrical/instrumentation repair and maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of motors, starters, contactors, power distribution and PLCs.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on analyzers, motors, gas firing equipment, and coal processing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC control systems, MCC equipment, VFDs/VSDs, communications networks and plant IP video systems.
  • Calibrate and document weigh scales, transducers, and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Collaborate on design and installation of motor control, networking, and process improvement systems.
  • Be ready to respond to plant needs to meet production goals.
  • Provide reliable electrical support to plant personnel.

Position: Industrial Electrician

Reports to: Electrical Supervisor

Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:00am-3:30pm OR Tuesday-Friday, 5:00am-3:30pm PST

Wage Scale: $44.22 - $56.19 w/ potential for overtime

What you'll be contributing:
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on: EPA-regulated extractive gas analyzers, extractive gas analyzer systems for other processes, large horsepower air-cooled motors, natural gas firing equipment for a rotary cement kiln, and pulverized coal processing and dosing systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs: Plant-wide PLC control system, MCC (Motor Control Center) equipment, AC VFDs and DC VSDs, plant-wide fiber optic, and copper Ethernet communication system, and plant IP network video system in addition to all electrical circuits and systems associated with cement manufacturing.
  • Calibrates and provides documentation for: weigh scales, weigh feeders, temperature/pressure transducers, and opacity monitoring equipment for environmental compliance.
  • Collaborates on the design and installation: Motor control equipment, networking equipment, process efficiency improvements, power-saving technologies, and condition monitoring systems.
  • Always be ready and willing to react to the plant's needs to ensure production goals are met
  • Consistently provide excellent and courteous electrical support to all plant personnel.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • An associate's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience working in a similar environment or on similar equipment is required.
  • Proficiency with computers, standard computer programs, and we research.
  • Analytical, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Preferred e xperience performing related electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Preferred k nowledge of contactors and starters, motors and motor controls (hookup and sizing), AC/DC motors, transformers, motor bearings and shaft alignment, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, power distribution, and cable termination.
  • Understanding of three phase power.
What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.

This position is classified as safety sensitive in accordance with WA Senate Bill 5123.
