Job summary

Ohio State University Hospital is seeking an Instrumentation Coordinator offsite to prepare, sterilize, assemble and deliver sterile instruments for surgeries and procedures. The role ensures aseptic packaging and acts as a clinical liaison between Operating Rooms and CSS offsite locations across the enterprise.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily activities, ordering and standardizing instrument trays, and supporting 24/7 reprocessing across multiple sites, including Ross Heart Hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
• CRCST certification required upon hire or must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 1 year of relevant experience required.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow and case cart assembly.
• Decontamination, assembly and sterilization/high level disinfection of reprocessed surgical inventory.
• Procure, order and organize instrument trays on a global level to service the Enterprise.
• Serve as a clinical liaison between ORs and CSS offsite locations to track sterilized instrumentation.
• Assist in projects and process improvement efforts.
• Promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication across departments.

Scope of Position:

An Instrumentation Coordinator works to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and or clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The Instrumentation Coordinator ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections. This position is for ensuring sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are packaged and delivered to the point use aseptically. Additionally, this position needs to serve as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise. This position will also be responsible for procuring, and standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise. This position will be utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System, to include Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East and all Ambulatory sites.

Position Summary :

Coordination and oversight of daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow, through efficient case cart assembly and decontamination, assembly and sterilization/high level disinfection of all reprocessed surgical inventory. Responsible for assisting in projects and process improvement. Promotes customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center. Also responsible for ordering, procuring and organizing instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification (CSPDT) issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required upon hire or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
• 1 year of relevant experience required.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
