Job summary

East Energy Renewables seeks an I&C Technician to collaborate with maintenance and operations to resolve control system and process failures. You will be the subject matter expert for controls at the site and lead Capital Projects from design through startup.

You will troubleshoot control system issues, drive improvements, and educate staff. Travel up to 66% (Farmville area) and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the power generation industry.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent industrial controls experience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to lead others to deliver results.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience delivering process improvements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley PLCs and controls products (ControlLogix, PanelView, FactoryTalk, Asset Centre, VFDs).
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial controls networks (Ethernet IP).
  • Strong working knowledge of process instrumentation and OT systems/hardware.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of industrial power, lighting, electrical safety and distribution.
  • Ability to travel up to 66% (Farmville, Wilson, LaGrange) and must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to resolve control systems and process failures.
  • Serve as the site SME for control systems issues.
  • Lead Capital Project management and execution of EIC projects including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Troubleshoot control system failures and educate peers and maintenance staff.
  • Work with engineering, maintenance, and operations to implement equipment changes for process improvements and upgrades.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability.
  • Develop and implement standards to maintain controls architecture and integrity with partners.
  • Provide engineering support to deliver performance, safety, and quality improvements and cost savings.
  • Provide leadership to engineering firms, construction contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Share knowledge to build control capabilities within the maintenance team.

Job description

Specific Accountabilities, ResponsibilitiesandDuties
  • The I&C Technician will collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to resolve control systems and process failures.
  • The I&C Tech will be the subject matter expert for the site in matters relating to control systems.
  • Capital Project management and execution of EIC projects, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting control system failures and identifying solutions while educating peers and maintenance staff.
  • Work with engineering, maintenance, and operations to make necessary changes to equipment for process improvements, system upgrades, preventative procedures, product changes, and new product launches.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to Plant reliability efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and implement standards to maintain the controls architecture and integrity.
  • Provide engineering technical support to maintenance and plant operations to deliver performance, safety, and quality improvements, as well as cost savings initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to engineering firms, construction contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Share technical expertise to build control knowledge and capability within the maintenance team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the power generation industry
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent industrial controls experience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods requiring stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • All personnel will participate in a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
