SURGE Staffing is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for a role based in Verona, WI. The position focuses on design, programming, integration, and commissioning of control systems for R&D, production, and industrial projects in a hybrid environment with domestic travel 25-40%.

The ideal candidate has strong PLC programming skills, field startup experience, and works well with project teams, customers, and contractors to meet design and performance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years designing, building, and programming PLC systems with field startup experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical for drawings.
• Ladder logic programming experience is required.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and instrument diagrams.
• Strong communication and multi-project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review control system architecture and P&IDs.
• Program and integrate PLCs and HMIs across platforms.
• Conduct risk analyses to ensure safe designs.
• Create BOMs, instrument indexes, and wiring schematics.
• Perform start-up, commissioning, and validation at sites.
