Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer to design and build data acquisition and control systems for testing space vehicle sub-assemblies and liquid rocket engines.

You will collect customer specifications, create electrical design packages, manage build activities through procurement and vendor management, and support installation and activation of systems in a safety-driven aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 3+ years’ experience with industrial or aerospace control system design or operation.
  • Design I&C systems using CAD-based schematic and panel layout tools (AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Instrumentation theory with data acquisition hardware; sensors including pressure, cryogenic, LVDTs, accelerometers.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible for U.S. work authorization.
  • 2-3 years PLC programming in ladder logic with Rockwell Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are a team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will design and build data acquisition and control systems specifically focused for testing space vehicle sub-assemblies and liquid rocket engines. You will contribute to the team’s progress by collecting customer specifications, creating electrical design packages, managing build activities through part procurement and vendor management, and supporting installation and activation of systems. Examples of design activities include a 20+ 3G-SDI video monitoring, display, and recording system, accelerometer and rotational speed data acquisition and signal conditioning for turbopump characterization, acoustic monitoring of engine tests, cryogenic liquid characterization using silicon diodes and RTDs, and portable DAQ systems. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline 3+ years’ experience with industrial or aerospace control system design or operation Ability to design I&C systems using CAD based electrical schematic and panel layout tools (preferably AutoCAD Electrical) Demonstrate knowledge of instrumentation theory coupled with integration into data acquisition hardware. Experience working with instrumentation: static and dynamic pressure, cryogenic temperature sensors (silicon diodes or RTDs), LVDTs, and accelerometers Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. 2-3 years programming PLC’s in ladder logic with Rockwell Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens.

Desired:

MS degree in Electrical Engineering Experience with video monitoring systems (webcam, 3G‑SDI, high speed, infrared, etc.) Design experience in noise reduction, shielding, and analog and digital filtering to provide high fidelity measurements Experience with analog circuit design using Altium design tools focusing on signal conditioning of high frequency instrumentation Tuning closed loop control systems. Software development in LabView, C++ or Python Safety PLC’s and/or implementing safety protocol in control logic (safety relays, implementing redundancy, etc)

Compensation range for on site WA applicants:

Engineer - Avionics, Instruments & GNC III is $135,000 - $198,000 Engineer - Avionics, Instruments & GNC II is $108,000 - $158,400 Engineer - Avionics, Instruments & GNC is $90,000 - $132,000 Other site ranges may differ Base Pay Range for: WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40 Other site ranges may differ
