Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls BIM designer in Portland for leading-edge facility projects. You’ll model and document instrumentation and control systems, delivering fully coordinated 3D BIM models and clash-free drawings.

The role requires strong BIM skills and experience with electrical routing, working within a hybrid team environment. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across design disciplines, ensure constructible deliverables, and contribute to projects

Qualifications

  • Experience with BIM design for complex facilities.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control equipment design.
  • Experience with electrical cable tray and conduit routing.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design, modeling, and documentation services for instrumentation and control systems on advanced facility projects.
  • Showcase Revit expertise while adhering to BIM standards.
  • Use Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD to create and manage fully coordinated 3D BIM models across disciplines.
  • Produce 2D construction drawings and ensure clash-free, constructible deliverables.
  • Collaborate with designers, discipline leads, architects, and engineers to turn design intent into reality.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in Electrical cable tray and conduit routing
  • Proven experience in BIM design for complex facilities.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of BIM design experience
  • Understanding of design and construction specifications and their function
  • Experience following CAD and BIM standards
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar markup software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Knowledge and design experience in instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in control panel design
  • Associate degree

The base salary range for this position is $71,000.00 to $97,600.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
