Job summary

EQT Corporation is seeking an Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (ICE) Supervisor to lead maintenance across production and water facilities. You will coordinate ICE technicians, manage PM and calibration activities, and ensure safety and reliability of instrumentation and electrical systems.

Work closely with Operations, SCADA, and Engineering to optimize asset performance while using Maximo for work orders and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation, electrical, controls, automation, or related field.

The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (ICE) Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical maintenance activities across production and water facilities. This position oversees ICE technicians, corrective and preventative maintenance, routine calibrations, safety shutdown systems, equipment reliability, training, and work scheduling through Maximo.

The role works closely with Operations, Water, Production Control Center, Completions, Internal Gas Measurement, SCADA, Automation, Engineering, and other support groups to ensure facilities are maintained safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout their operating lifecycle.

The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (ICE) Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership

• Coordinate and prioritize corrective maintenance activities with ICE technicians.
• Support troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical, controls, communications, measurement, and safety systems.
• Manage emergency and high-priority maintenance response.
• Identify recurring failures and drive long-term corrective actions.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and properly documented.

Planning and Scheduling

• Schedule and manage technician work through Maximo.
• Prioritize work based on safety, production impact, equipment criticality, and operational needs.
• Maintain visibility of open work orders, backlog, overdue work, and completion status.
• Coordinate maintenance around outages, completions activity, facility startups, and operational priorities.

Preventative Maintenance and Calibration

• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the ICE preventative maintenance program.
• Ensure routine instrumentation calibrations are completed at required frequencies.
• Maintain PM and calibration requirements for critical production and water facility equipment.
• Monitor PM compliance and correct overdue or ineffective maintenance activities.
• Use equipment history and failure trends to improve maintenance strategies.

Safety Systems

• Oversee inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of facility safety and shutdown systems.
• Ensure transmitters, switches, alarms, trips, interlocks, and emergency shutdown devices are maintained and tested.
• Coordinate safety system testing with Operations, PCC, SCADA, and other affected groups.
• Ensure deficiencies in critical protective systems are corrected promptly.

Production and Water Facility Support

• Oversee ICE maintenance for production gas and water facilities.
• Support instrumentation, electrical, controls, communications, measurement, pumps, tanks, and associated field equipment.
• Coordinate with Water, Completions, Internal Gas Measurement, SCADA, and Operations.
• Support facility commissioning, startup, shutdown, outage, reactivation, and transition into long-term operations.

Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E

• Oversee ICE electrical maintenance activities up to and including 480 VAC within the approved scope of the department.
• Ensure technicians are trained, qualified, and authorized for the electrical work they perform.
• Ensure ICE technicians maintain required NFPA 70E training and qualifications.
• Coordinate initial and refresher electrical safety training as required.
• Reinforce safe electrical work practices, including lockout/tagout, absence-of-voltage verification, proper PPE, approach boundaries, and arc-flash requirements.
• Maintain awareness of technician qualifications and ensure personnel work within their authorized level of training.

Equipment Lifecycle Management

• Maintain ICE equipment standards throughout the lifecycle of production and water facilities.
• Ensure equipment is properly documented in Maximo with asset records, specifications, PM requirements, calibration frequencies, and maintenance history.
• Identify obsolete, unreliable, or unsupported equipment and coordinate replacement.
• Provide maintenance input during equipment selection, construction, commissioning, and facility modifications.
• Work with Automation, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to improve equipment standardization.

Technician Leadership and Development

• Provide direct leadership, coaching, and technical support to ICE technicians.
• Establish training plans based on equipment, safety requirements, technology, and identified skill gaps.
• Coordinate vendor and manufacturer training where needed.
• Develop technician capabilities in instrumentation, electrical, controls, SCADA, communications, measurement, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Promote accountability, consistent work practices, and strong equipment ownership.

Reliability and Continuous Improvement

• Review equipment failures and maintenance history to identify reliability improvements.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for significant or repeat failures.
• Track key maintenance metrics including PM compliance, calibration compliance, backlog, repeat failures, emergency work, and equipment reliability.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, repeat work, and operating cost.

Required Experience and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation, electrical, controls, automation, industrial maintenance, oil and gas operations, or a related technical field.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems up to 480 VAC.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance, calibration, and safety shutdown systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E and electrical safe work practices.
• Experience with Maximo or a similar maintenance management system.
• Strong leadership, planning, scheduling, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, control drawings, and technical documentation.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Automation, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or lead technician experience.
• Oil and gas production or water facility maintenance experience.
• Experience with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA, industrial communications, gas measurement, transmitters, control valves, and electrical distribution.
• Experience developing training programs and maintenance standards.
• Current NFPA 70E training preferred.
