Job summary

Insight Global seeks an experienced Electrical/Instrumentation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical and control systems in an industrial setting. You will work on steam generation, boiler operations, and related utility infrastructure, ensuring reliable controls and safety interlocks.

The role involves calibrating environmental monitoring equipment, supporting high-voltage switchgear, generators, and motor controls, and updating drawings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70/National Electrical Code.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair instrumentation, electrical, PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems supporting steam generation, boiler operations, chilled water production, and related utility infrastructure.
• Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment; support high-voltage switchgear, generators, motor controls, and VFDs.
• Update electrical drawings and schematics; maintain plant computer and network systems.
• Document work in the maintenance management system and support operations and engineering teams.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency response.

Job description

• AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology or Journeyman Electrician equivalent
• 2+ years of electrical and instrumentation experience
• Experience with industrial electrical systems, switchgear, breakers, and motor controls
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 / National Electrical Code
• Valid Indiana driver's license

Preferred Experience:

• DCS systems (Symphony+ preferred)
• Generator controls, synchronization, and breaker controls
• Environmental monitoring equipment, compliance testing, and reporting
• High-pressure boiler controls and safety interlock testing

Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation, electrical, PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems supporting steam generation, boiler operations, chilled water production, and related utility infrastructure. The technician will maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment, support high-voltage switchgear, generators, motor controls, and variable frequency drives, and perform testing of boiler controls and safety interlocks. Additional responsibilities include programming and tuning control systems, completing preventative and corrective maintenance, updating electrical drawings and schematics, maintaining plant computer and network systems, documenting work in the maintenance management system, supporting operations and engineering teams, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency response.
