Job summary

Miltenyi Biotec, Inc. in Auburn, CA is seeking a technician to perform fault finding and repair on lab instruments in a factory service center. You will support setup, maintenance, QC, packing, and shipment of instruments while documenting service reports and coordinating parts.

The role requires a high school diploma with 2 years of technical/mechanical training and 2 years of hands-on experience. Travel up to 10% domestically or internationally may be involved.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of technical/mechanical training or education.
  • 2 years’ experience in a technical/mechanical field.
  • Knowledge of potentially bio-hazardous materials.
  • Strong understanding of technical protocols and electronic test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fault finding and repair activities on new, loaner, demo and trade show instruments.
  • Support logistics for new, loaner, demo and trade show instruments including setup, repair, maintenance, QC, pack-up, and transport.
  • Independently perform QC activities on all instruments as needed.
  • Complete comprehensive written service reports and cases.
  • Move new large instruments into/out of the service center and crates.
  • Manage spare parts inventory including ordering, receiving, counting, reconciling and merchandising.
  • Support customers via email, phone and video to troubleshoot and coordinate parts or replacements.
  • Assist Technician I and II in completing their work.
  • May travel domestically/internationally up to 10% per quarter.

Description

Your Role:

This position is primarily responsible for performing semi-routine activities on simple to moderately complex laboratory instrumentation. Assignments are completed by following technical documents and implementing technical and mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding methodologies to repair, review, QC test and file reports for new and internal use instruments in an in-house factory service center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform fault finding and repair activities on new, loaner, demo and trade show instruments.
  • Support the logistics associated with new, loaner, demo and trade show instruments; including set-up, review, repair, maintenance, QC, pack-up and physical movement to and from warehouse.
  • Independently perform QC activities on all instruments on an as-need basis.
  • Complete comprehensive written service reports and cases for assigned activities.
  • Move new large instruments in and out of the service center and crates and uncrates instruments.
  • Manage own spare parts inventory including ordering, receiving, counting, reconciling and merchandising.
  • Support internal and external customers via email, phone and video to troubleshoot, repair and coordinate parts, service and replacement or loaner instruments.
  • Support Technician I and II class employees in the completion of their work.
  • May travel Domestically/Internationally up to 10% per quarter.

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma Required; 2 years formalized technical/mechanical training or education (e.g. associate's degree, Military Occupational Specialty, etc..); 2 years of experience working in a technical / mechanical field.

Knowledge:

  • Must have knowledge of and be comfortable working with potentially bio-hazardous materials.
  • Strong understanding of technical protocols, electronic test equipment and mechanical skills

All persons performing this job will receive appropriate training prior to engaging in work requiring PPE.This job requires the person to be mobile to visit customer sites. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature.

The hiring range for this position is expected to fall between $25/hr-$29/hr, reflecting the range candidates can reasonably expect to be considered for at time of offer, based on factors such as experience, internal equity, and qualifications.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of considerations, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The above range represents the Company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
