Job summary

El Paso Children’s Hospital Corporation seeks an Instrument Technician to coordinate sterilization, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments for daily procedures. Experience in sterile processing or CST is required, with CST track contingent on certification completion.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma; college/technical training is preferred. Certification CSPDT/CRCST is required to perform this role in an acute care environment.

Qualifications

• One year of sterile processing experience or CST in an acute care setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college/technical training preferred.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Certification program is required for CST.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments and supplies for daily procedures.
• Collaborate with surgical departments and related areas to ensure instrument readiness.
• Maintain compliance with CSPDT/CRCST certification requirements and related standards.

The Instrument Technician coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures and related departments.Work Experience:One year of sterile processing experience required or Certified Surgical Technician (CST) in an acute care setting or equivalent experience.Education and Training:High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of college or technical school preferred. College or technical school degree preferred.Completion of a Surgical Technician Certification program is required for Certified Surgical Technologists (CST).Certification:Current Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
