2nd shift differential

Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an Instrument Technician-Surgery to support the OR, Case Carts, and Sterile Processing teams. You will coordinate daily instrument needs, ensure cleaning, sterilization and inspection of instruments, and handle Immediate Use Sterilization and related testing.

Requirements include a high school diploma, strong communication and organization, and familiarity with reading computer printouts. Sterile processing certification or 1 year in the field is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, prioritization and organization.
  • Basic ability to read computer printouts and use task lists.
  • Preferred: Sterile processing certification at technician level or higher; 1 year experience in Sterile Processing Department.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily instrument needs between OR, Case Carts, and Sterile Processing Department.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, sterilizing and inspecting of instrumentation.
  • Manage Immediate Use Sterilization processes and Biologic Indicator testing as needed.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

  • 1.75 2nd shift differential
Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The instrument technician-Surgery will be responsible for detailed knowledge of the inter-departmental needs between OR, Case Carts, and the Sterile Processing Department. They will coordinate/communicate daily instrument needs with OR mission partners and team leaders. Must be competent in proper cleaning, sterilizing and inspecting of instrumentation. Must be proficient and responsible for all aspects of the Immediate Use Sterilization process, as well and handling Biologic Indicator testing as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Other skills/knowledge:

  • Excellent communication skills Excellent prioritization/organization skills
  • Basic knowledge reading computer printouts and working from task list

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in sterile processing at the technician level or higher from an accredited organization 1 year experience in a Sterile Processing Department
