Job summary

INTEGRIS Health Edmond Hospital in Edmond, OK is hiring a mid-shift Instrument Technician (10:30–19:00) for the Surgery department.

As an Instrument Tech you will decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, and package instruments using steam, Steris, or Sterrad, and maintain sterilization records and charts. You will also handle supply inventory and initiate instrument replacements with director approval to keep ORs stocked and ready.

Qualifications

• Experience with preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments using steam, Steris, or Sterrad.
• Assemble instrument sets according to count sheets.
• Maintain sterilization records for steam sterilizers.
• Maintain sterilization charts for steam, Steris, and Sterrad.
• Inventory and restock autoclaving supplies.
• Identify needs for instrument replacement and initiate repairs or purchase orders with director approval.

Responsibilities:

• The Instrument Technician is responsible for the proper decontamination of all instruments and disassembling, cleaning, lubricating, packaging, and wrapping as well as sterilizing all instruments utilizing one of the following 3 methods of sterilization: steam, Steris, or Sterrad.
• The Instrument Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Ensures that all instruments are rapidly decontaminated for turnover procedures and that instrument sets are assembled according to count sheets.
• Completes the necessary processes for sterilization; keeps records of cleaning of all steam sterilizers in the department.
• Is responsible for assembling and maintaining sterilization charts for the following sterilizers: steam, Steris, and Sterrad.
• Performs an inventory review and orders and restocks the supplies needed for the autoclaving processes.
• Is responsible for determining the need for and the replacement of routine instruments and initiates repairs and purchase orders with director approval.

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
