Xcel Energy in Hayden, CO is seeking an Instrument Specialist to install, maintain, calibrate and repair instrumentation and process control systems, including CEMS. You will conduct tests, review records and initiate requisitions to support plant operations and regulatory needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a 2-year electronics/instrumentation certificate or equivalent training, and 4+ years of power plant or industrial experience with overtime and travel as needed.

Xcel Energy has an Instrument Specialist position open for our Hayden, CO location.

Position Summary

• Perform installation, maintenance, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, configuration and repair of power plant instrumentation and process control systems, including CEMS.
• Perform testing required by Plant Operation, regulatory requirements; review, prepare and submit records in support of these activities.
• Specify and initiate purchase requisitions in support of the above.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Perform equipment and/or system upgrades with latest technology for plant optimization.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two-year certificate from vocational technical institute in electronics or instrumentation, or company approved equivalent training and/or experience.
• Two or more years troubleshooting and repairs to the component level of electronic/industrial instrumentation desired.
• Four or more years previous power plant, industrial or refining experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of plant chemistry, water composition and knowledge of operations of water within a power plant.
• Must possess basic understanding of anhydrous ammonia operations within a power plant.
• Must be able to demonstrate basic understanding of DCS systems, communication and components.

Special Requirements:

• Resume is required with all work history and applicable skills related to the position.
• Scheduled and emergency overtime is required.
• Must possess the skills needed to respond to back shift callout for unsupervised work.
• Traveling to other sites may be required.
• Skills assessment may be required during the interview process.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $62.81 per hour
