Instrument/Electrical Experienced Technician needed for Dept Head

We are seeking a highly experienced technician in the areas of Instrumentation and Electrical to join our faculty. The candidate will need to have a minimum of 5-7 years working in the Instrument and/or Electrical field with extensive knowledge of those job duties.

Our programs are designed to train individuals to become those technicians in their future. The candidate will need to be able to instruct in a classroom / lab environment for Industrial Instrument Control Systems and/or Electrical Technology programs. A strong ability to work with individuals and groups regardless of individual communication level or personal style is important as many of our students are entry level.

A strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from trainees who are at varied experience levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and/or use course lesson plans.
  • Deliver high-quality technical instruction in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Maintain instructional supplies and training aids.
  • Promote and instill safe working practices.
  • Record trainee performance and submit written reports.
  • Provide trainee advisement on instructional matters.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or higher level of formal education / training.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years’ field experience in all areas of expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage.
  • Ability to supervise instructional staff within the department(s).
  • Advise students with a true concern for outcome of students and learning.
  • Answer / advise students questions about career(s) in these field(s).
Required:
  • Basic Instrumentation and / or Electrical principles; troubleshooting; methodologies and functions of these industrial fields.
  • Ability to communicate on an individual as well as group level.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ field experience in all areas of expertise
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage.
  • Ability and desire to manage staff.
Work experience and troubleshooting in “some” or all of the following areas
  • Previous experience in industrial instrumentation and / or industrial electrical, or other related fields.
  • Experience with pressure, level, temperature, flow and hydraulic (a plus) devices.
  • Demonstrate with a working knowledge basic instrumentation principles, their digital circuitry, or other working knowledge frequently used in the industrial instrument environment.
  • Experience with Solenoid Valve, Electromechanical and Pneumatic Relay Maintenance
  • Flow meter Provers, automatic sampler maintenance, SIS Mechanical Integrity, PLC Maintenance, Fire and Flame Detector Maintenance, Control Valve Troubleshooting,
  • Digital & Relay Logic Troubleshooting, Motor Operated Valve Communication Troubleshooting, Basic Vibration Maintenance, Control Loop Maintenance,
  • Familiarity with component level lab settings, basic electricity
  • Facilitate the learning of the design and use of smart devices
  • Plus - Strong background in industrial electrical safety
  • Plus - Familiarity with DCS systems (Smart system, TDC, Foxboro, field buss, others)
Preferred:
  • Preferred candidates will have 10 plus years of experience and a track record of progressive troubleshooting responsibilities during their work history.
  • Advanced Industry Certifications in Instrumentation and Control technology.
