Job summary

Jacobs in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our hybrid team. You will lead designs for electrical circuits, panels, and control systems across industrial facilities, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet schedule and technical quality targets.

The role leverages your PLC/DCS knowledge, P&IDs experience, and instrumentation expertise to optimize processes and startup support while collaborating with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of instrumentation and control experience.
• Knowledge of PLC, DCS, and other controls applications.
• Experience developing P&IDs.
• Experience sizing valves and specifying instrumentation in industrial facilities.
• Ability to work hybrid in Tempe, AZ and travel up to 10%.
• Siemens PLC experience is a plus.
• EIT is a plus.
• Understanding of industrial network design and components.
• Knowledge of control panel design and strong communication skills.

We're looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer hybrid in Tempe, AZ who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business. You will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You'll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-disciplinary, highly interactive team will produce designs for electrical circuits and panels utilizing control applications, designs for control systems for a variety of processes, and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of the process control, instrumentation, and automation. Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control
• Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and other controls applications
• Experience developing P&IDs
• Experience sizing valves and specifying instrumentation in industrial facilities
• Ability to work hybrid in Tempe, AZ
• Up to 10% travel

Ideally, you'll also have

• Field experience with control system installation and startup
• Siemens PLC experience
• Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Understanding of industrial network design and components.
• Knowledge of industrial control panel design.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $148,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
