Job summary

Relative Dynamics seeks an Instrument C&T Engineer to work on site at NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. You will collect, normalize, and deliver command/telemetry data, and develop simulators that accurately reflect each instrument’s interface behavior.

The role requires a Bachelor's in EE or AE, 5 years of C&T experience, and proficiency with data tools like Excel. You will collaborate with instrument teams and the GSFC C&T inges t team in a demanding, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience with spacecraft/instrument command and telemetry interfaces.
  • Experience reading IDDs, ICDs, or similar interface documentation.
  • Proficiency with Excel for organizing technical data.
  • Experience with GSE test equipment or simulators emulating spacecraft/instrument C&T behavior.
  • Familiarity with C&T database formats, CDRLs, and ground data system ingest processes.
  • Strong communication and cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Review IDDs and work with instrument teams to collect and consolidate C&T data.
  • Normalize and format C&T data for a traditional CMD/telemetry database deliverable.
  • Track completeness and flag gaps across instrument teams with version control.
  • Define requirements for instrument simulators using C&T data as foundation.
  • Develop and deliver instrument simulators for each instrument's CMD/telemetry interface.
  • Support integration and test by updating simulators as definitions evolve.
  • Coordinate with instrument teams and I&T stakeholders as needed.

What Youll Get to Do
  • Review Instrument Description Documents IDDs and work with instrument teams to collect derive and consolidate bitbyte level command and telemetry data including existing electronic artifacts eg Excel based definitions where available
  • Normalize and format collected C&T data into a consistent structure that meets the intent of a traditional commandtelemetry database deliverable coordinating with the spacecraft team on required ingest formats
  • Track completeness and status of C&T data across all instrument teams flagging gaps and maintaining version controltraceability as designs evolve
  • Define requirements and scope for instrument simulators in coordination with the spacecraft and instrument teams using the C&T data as the foundation for simulator logic and behavior
  • Develop and deliver instrument simulators that accurately represent each instruments commandtelemetry interface behavior
  • Support integration and test activities by maintaining and updating simulators as instrument C&T definitions evolve
  • Work closely with multiple instrument teams and the spacecraft C&Tingest team coordinating with systems engineering and I&T stakeholders as needed
What Youll Need
