Job summary

Bay Ltd. in Texas is seeking an Instrument Apprentice who supports journeyman instrument fitters and technicians in installing, repairing, maintaining, inspecting, and calibrating measurement instruments.

You will work with precision tools, read blueprints, and help ensure safety and accuracy while meeting project deadlines in outdoor and industrial environments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year minimum instrument apprenticeship experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Carries tools and materials, cleans parts, and work areas.
  • Drill holes in masonry or structural steel for installation of instruments, using electric and pneumatic tools.
  • Cut, bend, and install tubing related to instrumentation.
  • Removes, dismantles, and assembles instruments using hand tools.
  • Measure, reads blueprints, must be able to use square, measuring tape and ruler.
  • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Carries tools and materials, cleans parts, and work areas
  • Drill holes in masonry or structural steel for installation of instruments, using electric and pneumatic tools
  • Cut, bend, and install tubing related to instrumentation

Education And Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 1 year experience as an instrument apprentice

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Ability to operate job related tools
  • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
