• Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plus.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, install and modify process controls, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation and monitoring equipment in the plants.
• Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate plant instrumentation and controls; work with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain DCS/ instrumentation systems.
• Prepare and provide technical reports and enter information into SAP for equipment documentation.

Air Products, manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a high energy, self-starter to fill a full-time Instrument and Electrical Technician position with on-all responsibilities. This hourly position primarily supports our 2 Hydrogen Plants in Martinez, CA located onsite at the PBF Refinery. The incumbent will be assigned to the Martinez site as their primary location but will provide support as needed at 2 other hydrogen plants located nearby in Martinez on refinery sites as well. The I&E Technician will be responsible for performing and/or supervising the inspection, repair, installation and modification of process controls, safety devices, analyzers, PLC's, field instrumentation and process monitoring equipment in the plants. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of plant instrumentation and controls. This position requires ~10% travel as needed to support other HYCO facilities in the area.

Responsibilities include:

• Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in plants served. A sampling of these devices includes transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, pay meter systems, and others. Within each category are a variety of pneumatic and electronic devices.
• Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most rapidly changing technical area and requires a high level of technical training.
• Prepare and provide technical reports and enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation and information for equipment.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• High school diploma/equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controls.
• Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plus.
• Basic computer skills.
• SAP knowledge is desired.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs., working at heights and in confined spaces, extended hours on short notice, in a team environment, with safety first as a primary focus and ability to communicate effectively across technical, operations and maintenance line.

Work Hours:

• Four 10-hr shifts, 6am-4pm
• Must be flexible to work longer hours when needed and during outages

The expected hourly pay rate is $53.07 - $67.28 hourly plus bonus. This is the rate that we reasonably expect to pay for this position as individual compensation decisions are based on a multitude of factors. It's important to note that individual compensation packages are determined based on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to experience, and qualifications.

This role is a ladder position, and advancement is possible based on experience and demonstrated competency.
