Job Summary

The Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, and replacing physical equipment in the plant. Technicians install, troubleshoot, service and perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment, and they install, service, test and calibrate high‑voltage electrical systems and various electronic equipment.

Key Job Elements

1. Candidates must follow all safety rules and keep work areas in clean condition.
2. Requires installation, repair and maintenance of all process controls and electrical systems.
3. Dismantles, cleans, replaces parts, assembles and calibrates pneumatic and electronic instruments.
4. Determines causes for malfunctioning instruments and takes appropriate action to correct.
5. Reads electrical blueprints and schematics.
6. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
7. Installs, alters and repairs electrical systems, including installing conduit, pulling wire through conduit, making proper connections, and correcting electrical malfunctions in equipment and control devices.

Position Requirements

1. Minimum H.S. diploma or GED.
2. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training. An associate’s degree from a technical school is desired.
3. Must have basic skills in major standard industrial I&E skills, including electrical AC/DC voltage, PLC, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, motor control systems, and process control systems.
4. Experience in 480V to 4160V electrical systems is desired.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with maintenance and operations personnel in a team environment.
6. Job requires frequent standing, walking, climbing (ladders, stairs), and the ability to lift 80lb. occasionally.
7. Microsoft Office software knowledge.
8. Job occasionally requires overtime and call‑outs on weekends, nights and holidays.
9. Candidate must pass pre‑employment screening examinations and assessments.
