Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach Welding courses and associated labs in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Maintain accurate student records, instructional documentation, and required reports in a timely manner.
  • Assess and support student learning outcomes through evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain instructional standards, curriculum materials, and course outlines.
  • Advise and support students in academic planning, career pathways, and workforce readiness.
  • Apply industry standards that align with AWS and ASME standards to ensure quality and safety in all instructional activities.
  • Manage welding labs, including equipment, inventory, and safe operational practices.
  • Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and community stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.
Required Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Experience

5 years of relevant industry experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to pass a 6G SMAW pipe test
  • Ability to pass a 6G GTAW pipe test
  • Ability to effectively utilize basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 applications, to complete job-related tasks
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while instructing, demonstrating techniques, and supervising lab activities
  • Ability to walk and move frequently between classroom and laboratory work areas
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials typically up to 25–50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to demonstrate welding techniques or inspect student work
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for operating welding equipment and tools
  • Visual acuity to safely perform welding tasks, monitor student work, and identify weld quality and defects
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to heat, welding fumes, bright light, and moderate to high noise levels
  • Ability to wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing
  • Ability to operate welding machines and cutting equipment, including oxyfuel and plasma systems, safely and effectively
  • Sufficient physical stamina to demonstrate welding processes and oversee hands-on lab instruction throughout the workday
