Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–La Crosse maintains an instructor pool for Sustainability & Environmental Studies. This pool serves as a reservoir of potential instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses under department supervision, with responsibilities including class preparation, diverse delivery modes, and student assessment.

Instructors must stay current in their field, provide regular feedback, and may advise students or contribute to department service.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications for teaching position.
• Progress toward a doctorate may be acceptable in some programs.
• Certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required for certain programs.

Responsibilities

• Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
• Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to course content and expectations.
• Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.

Job Duties:

Each department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. If hired from this pool, the instructor will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair. The instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Depending on the program, specific certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required.
