Job summary

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at University of Miami seeks a Clinical Instructor to support ophthalmology residents and fellows through extensive direct patient care, on-call nights and weekends, and staffing in clinics and the operating room.

The Instructor will participate in teaching and supervising junior residents, and may assume appropriate administrative responsibilities; MD/DO and Florida license required, Board certification or eligible status preferred.

Job Summary (Purpose and Function):

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Instructor.

  • Main responsibilities include extensive direct patient care, night and weekend on-call, and staffing the residents in the clinics and operating room.
  • The Instructor will assist in teaching and training residents in an Ophthalmic Training Program. Must excel in teaching and be willing to assume appropriate administrative responsibilities.
  • Candidate must have an M.D. degree and accredited residency-training program in ophthalmology in the U.S.
  • Candidates should be board certified or board eligible and hold a valid and unrestricted State of Florida Medical License or Medical Faculty Certificate.

Supervision Exercised:

Clinical Instructors are required to supervise and train junior residents and students in clinical tasks.
