Position Summary
The Manager of Instructors will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of technical instructors. This individual will ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality training in electrical substation equipment, electrical fundamentals, and safety practices. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage both people and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of an inviting atmosphere for all Dallas employees and students.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all technical and logistical questions.
- Supervise and develop a team of instructors to maintain excellence in training delivery.
- Review all AVO newly developed/updated course content for clarity and accuracy.
- Manage all day 1/last day course operations for all host, on-site and virtual courses.
- Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and instructional assignments.
- Ensure training materials align with current industry standards and best practices.
- Audit all weekly student feedback surveys to ensure AVO Instructor and course compliance.
- Partner with curriculum development teams to improve content and delivery.
- Assign/track Instructor content development and facility project progression.
- Work directly with Megger recruitment teams with reviewing/interviewing potential Instructor candidates.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
- Review and approve all Instructor travel and expense reports.
- Act as an SME with client calls to better assist in course sales.
- Oversee instructor recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional development.
- Ability to substitute as needed to fill in gaps of Instructor absence.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within the instructional team.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and implement new training/cashflow opportunities.
- Probability of travel – 10-20% annually.
- Any other duties and responsibilities tailored to the growth and success of AVO Training Institute.
Qualifications
- Related Electrical Engineering, Technical Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in technical training, instructional delivery, or adult learning.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical maintenance, power systems, or related fields.
- Previous leadership or management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical substation equipment, safety standards, and electrical fundamentals.
- Familiarization with NETA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, IEEE, OSHA, ASTM, ANSI etc.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to support training operations.
- Background in Microsoft TEAMS, Outlook, Excel, CONCUR etc.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing teams.
