Instructor in Earth Science – Part‑Time Pool

Job Number: 2026‑00115
Job Type: Part‑Time Faculty
Location: Districtwide (Ventura County, CA)

We are seeking experienced instructors to provide classroom instruction in Earth Science for one‑to‑ten‑year post‑secondary programs at our three colleges. Applicants will be considered for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters and may be assigned to any of the district’s colleges.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study and effective study skills.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Plan and organize instruction in accordance with approved course outlines and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, and curriculum.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with faculty.
  • Revise and update course content and materials in response to new developments.
  • Update syllabi and collaborate with faculty on measurable performance indicators.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development, as well as in articulation and matriculation activities.
  • Participate in committees and meetings within the department, campus, or district.
  • Provide work direction to others, when appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology; or a Bachelor's in geology plus a Master’s in geography, physics, or geochemistry;
  • Or possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
  • All coursework must be from a recognized accredited institution.

Salary

Part‑time faculty are paid between $2,408 and $3,108 per semester per 10% load. Salary placement is based on educational achievement and relevant experience, consistent with the district’s collective bargaining agreement.
