Job summary

School of Rock South Hills is seeking a Music Instructor to join our South Hills location and lead engaging private lessons and shows. You will deliver dynamic music education that challenges and inspires students while embodying the energy of rock and roll.

You will design thoughtful lesson plans, mentor students across keys, vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, and communicate progress with parents. A passion for teaching and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Excellent ability to deal with a wide range of customers and people.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Very strong customer relations skills.
• Resourceful and good problem-solver.
• Works well under pressure.
• Ideal candidate is a working musician with formal training.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Good judgment a must.
• Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
• Ensure students learn fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons.
• Be visible and accessible in the school and interact with parents and students.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons and assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance.
• Adhere to the School of Rock Code of Conduct and safety policies.

School of Rock is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. With over 425 schools, and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world. We put on shows to teach music! We are looking for a Music Instructor to join us at our South Hills location.

As a Music Instructor/teacher you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within the lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Music Teacher positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.

We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Many of our teachers have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.

Music Instruction:

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
• Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
